Well, the Hawker Hunter was never a "Mass killing machine", it was an Interceptor/Strike jet. It was actually there to interdict your purposed MKMs.

I sat on a trainer Hunter Jet in 1973 and believe me, it is fast during take off but the moment you are up above, the speed appears really slow when you look out of the window. I was a joyride passenger so I know the exact feeling.
